Soul Guardian Skills

Soul Guardians receive 1 Bonus Point every time it levels up. Bonus Points are used to level up skills. The maximum level cap for Soul Guardians is Level 200, therefore a Soul Guardian can level skills 200 times. Skills cannot be Mastered, level 10 is the maximum. Skills can be unlearnt/removed at any time, the Skill Card will be consumed.

8 Skill Slots is the maximum in one category specific to their type.

Prerequisite skills must be learnt as they normally would be if a character was learning a skill E.g. To learn Electro Attack, first must learn Seal of Thunder. Soul Guardians are not restricted like normal characters, and are able to learn both 2nd job skills from both classes E.g. Both Warrior and Boxer Skills. To learn Second Job skills, a Skyblue Runestone is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I start the Enlightenment Quests to get my Soul Guardian?

You can first start them satisfying the needed conditions (Level 65 and have advanced to 2nd job).

Refer to the ggFTW Wiki to get started on the chain of quests.

  1. Card Identification Skill Card
  2. Secret Cards No.1 ~ 16
  3. Soul Seed
  4. Soul Guardian
  5. Mind's Eye Skill Card

I see you use terms like 'Squiggles' on your build instructions, what does that mean?

It just means that when you drill, you should see → Squiggle Emote on top of your characters' heads, meaning no item is detected.

How do I keep my Dimensional Key I received from Nefertiti?

Do not complete the optional quest: Spirit of Nefertiti - Be a True Trickster.

Help! I have two dimensional keys, what do I do?!

To attain full Enlightenment one Dimensional Key (the one with the level restriction) must be used to complete the Mind's Eye Skill Card quest; Eclipse - Another View for the World.

The other Dimensional Key can be kept or exchanged with Eclipse for a Dimensional Card Pack with this quest: Spirit of Nefertiti - Be a True Trickster.

What is in the Dimensional Card Pack?

The Dimensional Card Pack contains a random Secret Card. Opening a Dimensional Card Pack WILL NOT decrease/increase your chances of acquiring Secret Cards during Card Identification. There is a 1/16 chance to get your hands on a random card.

How do I know what affects my egg empathy?

Any of the activities listed on the Empathy Chart will affect your Soul Seed's Empathy.

Do I need a need a Harkon and all 16 Secret Cards for Spinel?

You don't need a map, as when you buy it, it comes with a map ready to go. All you need to do is equip the egg and train it.

How many flashes of empathy for 1 point in a stat?

It takes 20 flashes to gain 1 stat point.

What if I have two stats the same, which Soul Guardian will I get?

Whichever stat hit first will not guarantee you the Soul Guardian you want. You must make sure your wanted type has the most experience before hatching. Plan carefully.

How does Soul Guardian naming/renaming work?

Guardian names may have spaces and do not need to be unique/unused.

Card ID points? Fortune? Help!

1. Card ID gives secret points.

2. You can't control where these points go with our current knowledge.

3. Fortune also gives secret points, just a whole lot slower and $$$.

4. You cannot get anymore points if you finished ID and then choose to do fortune.

5. You can completely ditch fortune, even if you haven't started or finished it yet and still get a legendary if you've ONLY completed ID.

6. The only thing good about fortune is that it can and will lessen your total # of cards you use for legendary by ~300+ cards if you have the time and patience.

7. If your seed still flashes during Fortune Telling this means your Secret Empathy is incomplete. If your Secret Empathy is incomplete when hatching, you will not obtain a Legendary Soul Guardian.

How many skills can Soul Guardians learn?

A Soul Guardian can learn up to 19 skills max and 8 max in one category specific to their type. The build of your Soul Guardian will determine how many skill slots are available.

Do Soul Guardians have stats?

Yes, Soul Guardians have stats. Theirs are abysmally weaker compared to normal Trickster characters, since they do not wear equipment.

Notes: Debuffs are based heavily on Soul Guardians' base stats; Some fixed % based debuffs that don't take in user stats in their formula are exempt from this rule, like shield breaker. To maximize their debuffing ability, focus on getting a Soul Guardian best suitable to your character and opt for legendary build. The more slots in their major type, the better their debuffs will slash off from bosses/mobs.

E.g. A 1611 Digrimm's rust will debuff more than a 6111 Sephiren's rust.

How many Runestones can a Soul Guardian equip at once?

A Soul Guardian can equip 3x Runestones simultaneously

Guardian Runes

1. Default hatch rune.(Power source, Power transfer, Stormy wind rune)

2. Yellow rune spot. (Multi-mark rune, auto-defense rune)

3. Unconfirmed rune spot, maybe for future 3rd job runes.

4. 2nd job character rune spot. (Cochma, Louis, Sephira, Tiphreth)

Notes: #3&4 are reversed for Spinel.

Confirmed 2nd job skills that are bugged

  • Wicked Flame's damage over time burn effect
  • Hinder Snare
  • Wind Blade
  • Radiant Strike

Once you've hatched your Soul Guardian, it will use the skills of its major type the most often.

Unless it has an even build like 3333/4444, then the skills of its type will be launched first, then others will follow evenly. To counter this, you can input debuffs/attacks in the Soul Guardian window sidebar in your character growth tab.

There are 2 instant cast in one battle slots, and 4 repeatable. Once the rotation is done and skills are in cool-down, it will use it's default rune attack. Passive Skills cannot be put into the skill slots.

E.g. To make arrow rush work, have it in your skill slots with mana arrow.

Then just drag mana arrow to the repeatable or instant skill slots. Skills cannot be mastered on Soul Guardians, only to level 10.

Can a Soul Guardian's attacks and debuffs miss on monsters?

With the results from testing, no they do not miss. All attacks will hit. Shard of the glacier didn't have the 90% accuracy penalty applied. Your Soul Guardian can debuff even the highest LK monsters in-game. Shard misses constantly at Chaos Tower floor 72, regardless if the Soul Guardian has a high sense build.

Is possible to stack double debuffs/attacks?

With the results from testing, no you can not and it's situational. For example, you can't double rust or double luck break a monster.

The last debuff used on the monster will be the one that stays. This also applies to attacks. You can't double stack shard of the glacier or tesla field on the same monster. Shard will miss and tesla will be replaced with the most recent one used. If you want two, you must have targeted one monster and your Soul Guardian targeting another.

E.g. You cast scorching earth on a boss and your Soul Guardian casts scorching on another mob for dual scorching on the field.

Where are the best places to farm Monster Cards?

How does Soul Guardian experience work?

You won't lose experience to Soul Guardians, they never absorb our exp nor is our experience split and shared by a 50/50 split. Soul Guardians gain 10% of your experience if you hunt manually and they don't absorb it from the total. For example, you kill a monster and you receive 50000 exp, your Soul Guardian gets 5k from that kill when summoned, and that 5k isn't subtracted from your 50k, understand? So no need to worry about it stealing your experience.

If you quest, then Soul Guardians gain the full amount of the quest experience, not 10% and won't subtract from any of yours gained either.

Class Recommendations

In this instance Chaos Tower (CT) refers to the updated Chaos Tower. PandaTO's Chaos Tower is the first version and customised. Shield Breaker will not fail on this server.

All builds are before hatch, after hatch bonuses are not written. For the legendary builds, you can rearrange them if your +2 is on an unneeded type.

  • Queen of 1v1, you'll be one shotting most things.
Getting a guardian with a 4 in sense and Cochma's rune will help you to fight those heavy physical resist bosses like Soki. More damage is always welcomed.
  • Any guardian with at least a 1 in charm for skunk is fine.

  • If you boss, Chaos Tower, and Harkon Protection often, a 3362 or 4262 legendary Ifron/Spinel with a Cochma's rune is recommended. These two builds are very versatile in all areas.
  • If you do all of the above's activities, but don't have patience for a legendary go for a 3362 Ifron/Spinel or 6242 Sephirens/Spinel with a Cochma's rune.
3362 is more bossing & CT/1vs1 target oriented, while 6242 is more focused on multiple targets & harkon, but still allows you to boss nicely.
  • If you boss and CT often, and don't have a preference for looks, any guardian with a 4 in sense/1 in charm & Cochma's rune will do the job.

  • Since most of your attacks are AoE based, there isn't much room for 1vs1 skills to be used for bossing.
Elemental attribute, beserker + Chi sword can only take you so far.
Getting a guardian with at least a 4 in sense with Cochma's rune will allow you to boss efficiently and eliminate any problems you had before.
  • Any guardian with at least a 1 in charm for skunk is fine.

Fire / Electric:

  • You pretty much excel in bossing and some of PvE, getting any guardian is pretty much up to you.
If you kill fine already, go for a cookie cutter 6215/6305 Sephirens/Spinel for overall usefulness. Legendary is optional.
  • You can also go for a 5603 Digrimm/Spinel with a Sephira's rune for shard for the luxury damage or for the additional electro stun. Legendary is optional.
  • Any guardian with at least a 1 in charm for skunk is fine.

Wind / Water:

  • Same as above, except you don't put shard on your guardian, go for the electric stun utility.

Fire / Earth:

  • Sorry, but you're the worst bosser out of all the Soul Master elemental combinations.
But at least you can still kill things some classes can't because you've got your Salamander's territory.
If you kill fine already, go for a cookie cutter 6215/6305 Sephirens/Spinel for overall usefulness. Legendary is optional.
  • If you're struggling with damage, guardian's won't help you much in the damage department.
However, your best hope for a damage supporter is a 3362 Ifron/Spinel with a Cochma's rune for the SB + Lucky fist combo. Legendary is optional.
  • A 5603 Digrimm/Spinel with a Sephira's rune for electro stun is also helpful. Legendary is optional.
  • Any guardian with at least a 1 in charm for skunk is fine.

Wind / Earth:

  • You pretty much excel in bossing and all of PvE, getting any guardian is pretty much up to you.
If you kill fine already, go for a cookie cutter 6215/6305 Sephirens/Spinel for general debuffs and overall usefulness. Legendary is optional.
  • A 5603 Digrimm/Spinel with a Sephira's rune for electro stun is also helpful. Legendary is optional.
  • Any guardian with at least a 1 in charm for skunk is fine.

Water / Electric:

  • HOLY SHIT, You will KILL/ONE SHOT ANYTHING IN YOUR WAY and getting a guardian is too cool beans for you.
But on the serious side, you pretty much excel in bossing and all of PvE, getting any guardian is pretty much up to you.
If you kill fine already, go for a cookie cutter 6215/6305 Sephirens/Spinel for general debuffs and overall usefulness. Legendary is optional.
  • Any guardian with at least a 1 in charm for skunk is fine.

  • You take quite a while in CT later floors, so your best hope for a damage supporter is a 3362 Ifron/Spinel with a Cochma's rune for the SB + Lucky fist combo. Legendary is optional.
  • If you kill fine already, go for a cookie cutter 6215/6305 Sephirens/Spinel for general debuffs and overall usefulness. Legendary is optional.
  • A 5603 Digrimm/Spinel with a Sephira's rune for electro stun is also helpful. Legendary is optional.
  • Any guardian with at least a 1 in charm for skunk is fine.

  • If you kill fine already, go for a cookie cutter 6215/6305 Sephirens/Spinel for general debuffs and overall usefulness. Legendary is optional.
Put a 2nd job power rune on it if you plan to hunt annoying Odinea.
  • A 5603 Digrimm/Spinel with a Sephira's rune for electro stun is also helpful so things don't get out of your Ghostly Whisper. Legendary is optional.
  • A 3362 Ifron/Spinel with a Cochma's rune for the SB + Lucky fist combo is also viable. Legendary is optional.
  • Any guardian with at least a 1 in charm for skunk is fine.

Fire/Electric/Light/Dark:

  • If you boss, Chaos Tower, and Harkon Protection often, a 5603 legendary Digrimm/Spinel with a Sephira's rune(for Shard of the Glacier) is recommended. These two builds are very versatile in all areas.
  • If you do all of the above's activities, but don't have patience for a legendary go for a 5603 Digrimm/Spinel with a Sephira's rune(for Shard of the Glacier).
  • If you boss and CT often, and don't have a preference for looks, any guardian with at least 3-4 in magic & Sephira's rune will do the job. 3 slots(only pre-reqs for shard) are for the lights because they don't need the extra slot for cure and 4 slots(shard pre-reqs + cure) for darks.
  • If you're pretty much working with in game equips, don't rely on a shard guardian as your damage crutch because of resistance change on regular bosses. In CT, you can rely on it as much as you want, just work on timing your electric attacks. Other than that, Shard misses 100% at CT floor 72.
  • If you're killing fine already or don't want to spend MS for the rune you can go for a cookie cutter 6215/6305 Sephirens or any guardian with at least 1 in charm for skunk.

Fire / Earth / Light / Dark:

  • If you boss, Chaos Tower, and Harkon Protection often, a 6215/6305 legendary Sephirens/Spinel with a Louis's rune is recommended.
  • If you don't want to spend MS or don't have the patience for a legendary, a cookie cutter 6215/6305 Sephirens/Spinel will also work.
  • If you honestly don't care, but just want to get a guardian, go for any guardian with at least a 1 in charm for skunk.
  • If you have a hard time bossing, a 3362 normal/legendary Ifron/Spinel with a Cochma's rune will do fine also. Why sense? The shield breaker + lucky fist combo does really well in bossing.

Wind / Earth / Light / Dark:

  • Same as fire/earth/light/dark, see above.

Wind / Water / Light / Dark:

  • Same, see above.

Water / Electric / Light / Dark:

  • You pretty much excel in bossing, CT & Harkon Protection, so getting any kind of guardian is up to you.
For those who want the guardian only for debuffs, go for a cookie cutter 6215/6305 Sephirens/Spinel. Legendary is optional.
  • Any guardian with at least a 1 in charm for skunk.

  • Getting any guardian with at least a 4 in sense for a permanent NON-FAILING Shield Breaker is your best friend. You need at least a 4 in sense for regular guardians in order to learn SB and all of its pre-reqs. In addition, shield breaker will never miss since the guardian is using it.
The trade-off is a weaker SB though. You decide what you want.
  • A 3362 Ifron/Spinel with a Cochma's rune for the SB + Lucky fist combo is also viable. Legendary is optional.
  • If you kill fine/stingy for MS and don't care, then any guardian with at least a 1 in charm for skunk is fine.

The trade-off is a weaker SB though. You decide what you want.
For dagger users, same as above because your damage sucks without SB if you're mostly in game EQs and getting it will make your life so much easier.
  • A 6305 Sephirens/Spinel with a Louis's rune for the stronger power type moves is also very nice. Not to mention, all of your guardian's moves will be increased due to your SB. Legendary is optional.
